Be careful, I believe the squish needs to be altered as well.

What was your squish before you pulled the head?

Stock squish is around 90 thou, as long as you leave some of the lip around the domes you will be ok. you can cut about 40 thou off the head but that will bring the compression to around 160 to 165. With 95 octane I would not cut more than 35 to 40 thou off the head that will get you to around 150 to 155.

You need to know what the squish is before cutting. .040" seems to be what most of the tuners aim for. If you keep it at .040" or above you will be safe.

yep...i used a lead wire ,put in plug hole turn engine by hand ,measure suished wire to deturmin your squish...i got my squish at .46 and my psi is exactly 150 with riva heads, which i cut myself on our claussen lathe...if you cut them yourself ,use the flat edge of the tool not the point, and it will leave a perfect finish. good luck ol chap.
