Thread: night riding

    night riding

    so this may be a stupid question,,but i have always been intrigued in equipping one of my pws with navigational lights for night...would this even be legal if it was all done correct? has anyone here ever done it?thanks

    This has been discussed in previous threads.

    Legal depends on where you are located, as the regulations vary. It is NOT legal in many jurisdictions.

    Even with lights on, there is greater risk when riding at night. You cannot read the water very well, especially at speed. An unexpected wave or boat wake could toss you off.

    Using a boat at night even if you hit a big wave it is much less likely to put you in the water.

    yah i was just curious...everyone stays out till near dark sometimes and i hate leavin and like riding the jetskis better than takin the boat..

    Im guilty of the "Twilight" runs (@ the lake)after everybody else goes home. But the houseboat is nearby.
    On the Ohio river I dont mess around. The barges have one little light 1/8 mile from the main tow boat. Its scary chit when you realize there is a wall of steel quietly sliding by you50-100 ft away.
    You dont have to drink to get in trouble on the river at night.

    yah probably about the same on the mississippi where im at..and yah i have blasted across the lake here under full moonlight as well...i was just thinking from beach to riverside cabin if need be,,,bout 2 mile trip on water..
