    Super charge clutch problem

Has anyone ever had trouble with steel washers wearing grooves in them. After only about an hour running time, I found out some of mine had grooves in them. I never had this problem with my ceramic ones. I have a 2004 RXP with Rotex racing heavy duty clutch & shaft.

I got them from Mark in Cananda and I talked to Jerry Gladdis about it. He said there had been a bad bunch. Could that be the cause of the grooves my washers?

Woody, you received a set out of a batch that was not treated properly. Yes, if they were not treated properly they will wear a grove in them where they ride against the gear. (too soft) That is why Mark sent you out a replacement set. You are good to go with the updated set he sent you.

Jerry- Are you saying the batch was not tempered or heat-treated properly? This can happen once in a while. Tempering Steele is a sensitive process.

Yes, i was told a batch wasn't heat treated at all. The manufacturer replaced them all.

I was very fortunate...I got a set from that batch but when I took them out they didn't have any wear on them at all...they just lost a lot of torque (they were down to about 70in.lbs in just 6 hours of ride time)...some have been reported melting to the shaft but rare.
Jerry sent me the new ones right away and they performed very nice! I just gotta talk the wife into getting that Solas prop now!

    WRONG!!!

You don't "talk her into it"...

YOu need to say that the OEM prop is prone to flying apart and that you ahve heard this happens ,ost of the time after the ski has a few years on it and consequently out of warranty.

Tell her that this is preventative maintenance, and a couple of hundy now will save thousands later......
