Not sure to what extent you want to clean the bay, but I did this a few weeks ago:
Removed seats, cowling, and plastic motor cover.
Purchased a gallon Simple Green, diluted about a 1 cup SG to 3 cups water,
poured into a spray bottle and misted everything I could via spray bottle.
Then mixed 1/2 gallon w/3 & 1/2 gallons of water, poured contents of bucket straight into
Drove around the block a few times, w/a quick acceleration and quick
braking - wanted to slosh it all around...
Unhooked trailer from truck, opened the bilge drains, tilted ski back and rinsed the bay liberally
w/the garden hose.
After rinsing, fogged engine bay w/Bombi Lube and allowed to dry in the
shade all afternoon.
Ski came out clean as a whistle...

Engine can stay cold.
Tie a plastic bag over/around the engine air intake to prevent water from getting splashed in.
