    When to go new?

    Looking at a low hours, less than 19, crank for a 66v PV engine at half the price of the cheapest OEM NIB one. Is it worth it as it is only a stock rebuild or do I need to just go new. When is used not worth it as I have read where used cranks with many more hours were used successfully. Apart fron slop and obvious marks, what to look for when buying a used crank?

    19 hours is incredibly low, Generally anything under 100hrs is sill considered good. Personally I would have someone look over it regardless and use the money saved to get it T&W. The crank is the most important part of the engine and isn't place to skimp. Just buy with caution and find out why it was taken out of the engine.

    Edit: Also you can get cranks brand new for under $600 but I don't know what you priced out.

    Not one to take a risk or chance on wasting money, but is there a way to check a used crank to see if it is ok?
