New to the 2stroke + stand-up scene...
Well I just picked up an 87 js300 with a 550 engine in it. Starts right up and runs good, i think. The PO informed me that every once in a while the carb floods. Not sure exactly how it happens only 'sometimes' unless there is no fuel filter(not sure if they are supposed to have one or not) or some dirt is just getting stuck in the carb. Anyways my question is, is there a site or book I can look to get more information regarding both the 550 engine and the 300 hull? Just trying to read up and learn more about these skis before I start tearing into them. Like to figure out whats stock and whats not. For example trying to figure out what carb is on this ski, from previous pics it looks stock but not sure how to tell if it's a SBN (38or44). Any help or a point in the right direction would be great, Thanks!!

Hi most of the time you would need the year of the ski but there is a easy way to tell a 38mm has 3 air filter bolts on top and a 44mm has 4 bolts for the air filter.
I have been working on these since 1977 so if you have any questions that you cant get the answer for PM me
