    MSX 140 Flywheel and Stator

Does anyone know where I can get a new flywheel and stator? Are there any other models that would be a replacement for the 140's flywheel?

I completely torched the engine when the oil injector failed. So another vote for premixing your gas and oil.

Ficht fuel injected engines can not use pre-mix oil+gas. Oil injection system must be operational.

How did an oil injection problem cause both the stator and the flywheel to be damaged?

What actually failed with the oil injection?

Parts sources can be found through my signature links.

The failure started in the crank, went up into the piston and destroyed that. Pulled the flywheel and something went amiss when the crank failed and ate the teeth on the flywheel and the stator was in pretty bad shape.

Was this just a run-of-the-mill crank bearing failure?

Not a failure of the entire lubrication system, just bearing failure?

Actually, the MSX engine I think has an extra oil feed just for the front crank bearing. Did that oil feed hose get damaged or blocked?

How many hours were on the engine?

We couldn't find any damage to the oil feed hose. it may just have been a bearing failure but it only had 70 hours on the engine. It didn't look like an entire system failure but as a precaution i am putting in a new pump.

you could see when the crank siezed that the shavings got sucked up into the piston so that explains that failure.

The flywheel and stator failure may actually be unrelated I am guessing.

I just replaced my flywheel on my 03 MSX 140 due to broken teeth. It was $254 from St Johns Power Sports in Palatka FL. You must order on-line to get this price. I think I paid $14 for shipping. When the teeth broke off of my flywheel they trashed my stator. I sent the stator to RM Stator in Canada. They fixed it for $150 and $30 shipping.

That's good information. This problem seems to be a lot more prevalent than I would have guessed.

My flywheel issue was due to a bad EMM.

May I ask why you choose RM Stator over www.jetskisolutions.com ?

Something to keep in mind about the MSX 140 is that it is the only Ficht model that does not have a Start/Stop LR-503 module to control the start solenoid. Any time the Start button gets pressed the solenoid will activate and engage the starter, even if the engine is already running.

That means that it is easy to press the Start button and trigger the Bendix engagement while the engine is running at any RPM. That can be hard on the Bendix and flywheel teeth.

I went with Rm Stator because it was recommended several times over several forums. Jetskisolutions would have saved some time. I will keep them in mind.
