P1517 is a compass error, caused by the MPEM losing its setting; it thinks it should be looking for a compass, and there isn't one on the 2005 RXP. It is literally a 2 minute fix, using BUDS or Candoopro. Check the box on the screen and write the value back to the ski. So it all depends how the dealer wants to sock it to you. Some dealers charge a full shop hour regardless of the time it takes for a simple thing. If you had a good relationship with the service guys, they might even do it for free.

The best thing you can do is tell them exactly what the problem is, and that it should only take a couple minutes to fix. That way, they cannot screw you into thinking there is more work involved than there really is.
