96 gtx, seems to over rev and slow start?

finally wentout to test my seadoos, both same 96 gtx, 787. one seems fine runs great. the other seems to overrev and slow start, and after i ease the throtle and slowly start to get speed. once it gets going seems normal, after first run full throtle i stopped and started full speed seems normal, but if i let it idle for about say 1 minute and try full speed Iam back to square one(over rev like slipping clutch on a car) after i called it a day i did find small amount of grass like seaweed. but the other ski had them too. what should i check? at full speed both skis run the same. even in a drag race they were the same (after a slow start then stopped) i hope i don't confuse you guys.thanks

pull the pump off and inspect the wear ring. what you are describing is called cavitation. if you have more than a couple mm clearance the ring needs replaced. you will also need a prop removal tool to get the prop out to change the wear ring.

also check prop for any dings, bent, ect, front, and rear blades. i once had a seadoo in the shop here, that did the same thing. all looked good, when i removed the pump. prop was mint, front and back. it was not until i fully removed the prop from the pump did i find there was a large rock, stuck in the blades, where you could not see it.

long story short, inspect everything fully, NEVER assume....

I took it out for the weekend, it ran much better after i took cleaned out the bottom had some grass like algea on the prop shaft, i did see some dings in the prom, where can i get a prop removing tool without braking the bank, i would also need a prop and wear ring, never done this before so it will be my first, should i find a decent used prop and new wear ring, remember this is a 96, i really like the skis (match pair), so i plan to use them all summer long they only have 80 hrs on them and seem to be reliable engines.
