GP1200r Low Compression In Middle Cylinder...FML

So my mechanic called me yesterday after he installed my rebuilt carbs and informs me that everything seams good except the middle cylinder is low on compression (45psi)... He said he is not sure what it could be and would have to basically take aprt the whole top end since it the middle cylinder to find out exactly what is wrong. And depending on what the issue is it will be anywhere from 600-1400 bucks to fix...... So i am looking for input from my fellow GH members as to what should be my next step ? He told me he would not charge me to take it apart and find out whats wrong

at 45 psi it has to come apart. Start looking for a cylinder now. Buy a new pro-x piston from him and a base gasket and a head gasket and have him reassemble.

Depends on how it looks. A deto hole in the piston might req only one piston and one base gasket if the cylnder is good.
    How many hrs?

45 psi, you will need a new cylinder or yours replated along with a piston kit. You will need the other 2 cylinder base gaskets to remove them and get the metal out of the bottom end.
