    1050 heads

I have 025 heads on my 99 slx, the cylinders are 1019's and I'm making 118 psi now, my question is:
How much More psi can I expect by swapping the heads for 050's?

With the 050's and new pistons/rings I was getting 155 psi. Interestingly I was getting 145 psi on the 025 middle piston setup being a 97 1050.

Interesting questions on the .050 heads. I just put in those heads on my 98 SLXH. I haven't totally gotten them put together but I'm wondering how it will run. I bumped up the main jets one size due to the 1mm oversize. We'll see how she runs. Hopefully by next weekend. Got most everything in there powder coated yellow. It may be too much yellow in there but I like it. When I get it back together, I'll post up some pics and let you know how it runs.

I bought 93 octane heads from Hotseat, and boosted my compression a great deal. Cant remember what it brought it up. I would have to test it again.

I wonder if I'll have a huge jump in compression numbers. Before I went in to change the top end, I had the SBT motor that gave me 114 psi. Now, I have the rings in the normal operating clearances and the 050 heads. I would assume since I have the tolerances right on the ring gap and 050 heads, that compression jump might be significant. Should I run the big boy gas now(92 octane)?

I always use the highest octane available to me

I used minimum 95 on mine, never had any problems detonation or otherwise. I wouldn't risk anything lower.

95 isn't readily available around here. Most we carry normally is 93 octane.

Polaris recommends nothing less than 89 when fuel contains ethanol. (which almost all does near me)

So pay the extra dime a gallon for the premium IMO.
