Extended Fuel Pick Up on Kawi 300

There has been speculation whether the 300 boats would require an extended fuel pick-up for those racing Endurance or Sprint races or for just long riding days. Some believed that due to new part numbers that the fuel pick-up might be picking up fuel closer to the bottom of the tank. Well, you never know until you check it yourself, so, I ordered the R&D extended fuel pick-up to have on hand when I pulled the fuel pick-up. I pulled it this AM & this is what I found:

    1) I had not added fuel since the end of our Sprint race in Baytown last Sunday. With the boat leveled I had 4" of fuel left in the tank measured where the fuel pick-up unit sits.

    2) From the lip of the tank to the bottom of the tank measured 15". From the lip of the fuel pick-up to the fuel pick up point on the stock set up measured right at 12". So, there is a 3" vertical space that is not accessed by the stock unit.

    3) By using the R&D extended fuel pick-up advertised for the 250/260 ( It fits fine ), the angle of the fuel filter & pick up point inside the filter is changed approx. 1.5" farther down inside the tank. The measure from the top of the Unit lip to the fuel pick-up entry point now measures right at 13.5". The filter material itself probabably goes down an extra inch or so but the entry point for fuel is higher up inside the filter.

    4) There you have it. Looks the same as the 250/260 original set up to me.
