    Testing Intercooler For Leaks

Had a little fun today figureing this out. I ran the pressure up to 20 psi and let it stand for 20 minutes without a drop in pressure. I dont think I would want to test at any higher psi.Click image for larger version.

At speed pressure in the system can reach north of 50 psi. If you are going to pressure test i would want to make sure it holds to 70psi but that is just my opinion. I know the XS coolers are rated for 70 psi working pressure and burst pressure should be 2 1/2 times working/max pressure.

Good info, I'll test it to 50-60 psi tomorrow (whatever I can get out of the hose).

donny, any way you can explain to me how to test the whole setup for leaks? i know i got a boost leak somewhere. but i need to know how to test it with IC in place and without air escaping out of front air intake. none of my firends are smart enough to know what to look for with seat off riding and i dont trust them to drive, and no leaks on the hose.
