I'm looking to buy a filter locally and not from the dealer.
Is there a filter and place that you know of to purchase the filter at?

dealer is going to be your only option if you want one same day. Or you could use the KN part# that was previously posted and sweet talk an auto parts counter guy to order one for ya. Either way its best to order in bulk. Whenever I order them I get like between 4-6 for the ski and the same for my car.

    I'm not being cheap.

Can you tell me what an hour of driving costs in a v6 @ $4.35 a gallon??

When your done with the math add that to the filter.

Am I being smart or do you not think things through?

Its more like, I want to do it now instead of waiting.

I'd rather pay a couple extra $ to a good guy that's committed to this site and always there for help.
