I have $6k to spend, MoTeC or Vipec?

This thread is for 80mph+ Club members only

as simple as that ... I have an extra $6k to spend on my FZR ...

after reading 80+ threads about MoTeC and Vipec, I am still not able to make up my mind ...

    in GreenHulk store:

The MoTeC ECU with UTC, Lambda Upgrade, Logging Upgrade, GPS, O2 sensor, 1000cc Injectors, 3 bar map sensor and all the looms = $6500

Vipec ECU with O2 sensor, 1000cc Injectors, 3 bar map sensor, Lambda cable and Riva Engine Internal Upgrade Kit = $6500

    Interesting right

I know with MoTeC i will be having ENDLESS POSSIBLITIES ... but with the Vipec and the Engine Internal Upgrade Kit I will be running 88mph+ safely ...

I am even more confused now

I am not trying to start a MoTeC vs Vipec thread so please don't turn it into one ...

Any other ideas are more than welcome ...

I would suggest with either one you get you should upgrade the valve train. When you start getting into the higher RPMs you run the higher risk of valve float with the stock setup.

    Ever considered going turbo?

How does 83MPH at 10 PSI sound?(Stay tuned for 22 PSI hopefully this weekend)

You can buy the turbo kit and sell your charger and make some money back and you will never have to worry about clutches anymore!!

I hate to open this can of worms, but are you wanting a Vipec or Motec because you are only hitting 81.7mph right now with your R3 reflash and you think an aftermarket EMS is going to take you from there to upper 80s?

The turbo will cost $5k and then need another $3k for an ECU and then another $3k for upgrading the internals.

Hitman, last week, my FZR was the fastest among the group. Today, my friend reached [email protected] with Vipec. There is no way I get this number with a reflash. The only way to beat this number is with MoTeC or Vipec.

Don't you have an R3 Reflash already? Just add the turbo and about 18LBS of boost and you will be around the 90 MPH mark. No additional ECU and no need to upgrade internals.

    84.6 mph fxsho

Firstly, go turbo, then you can eliminate the biggest issue your going to trip over. buy a kit or make your own.

Secondly, are you are fiddler? Go motec. Pete is gathering some nice turbo data. And Internet support is good.

Go viper if you like plug and play

Stay with r3 if you run out of budget.

Latest top fx speed downunder is 92.6 (garys)

If you set the rest of the ski up properly you can. Tommy Jordan and some of his buddies have worked on and ride with FZR's doing 86-88 mph with E1 or equivilant wheels running on reflashes.

Based on you RPM, level of mods, and somewhat lower speed, it's my opinion that something is not setup up in your pump/rideplate/intake grate correctly and an aftermarket ECU is not ogin to fix any of that. Seriously. There are guys going 83+ with B1 and C3 wheels. That should tell you something right there.
