    question about 2001 gp1200r

i just picked up a decently clean 2001 gp1200r and just wanted to know what to check on, reg maintenance, and other quirks about the motor and the ski itself. ive already read about getting wave eaters and the dplate how hard are they to put on and are they recommended 100%? and is there anything else i should know? thanks guys.

D plate and wave eaters absolutely have to be done. Cats last about 50 hours, so if you have more then that chance are it's already breaking apart. As for wave eaters it only takes a wave and a hard landing to drop a PV so don't chance it. After that look in to sealing the pump shoe, changing the intake grate, and reinforcing the pump and brackets. As far as free mods go try stepping the Sponsons.

As far as maintenance make sure you flush it good 5 min and wash it good including the engine compartment. Then spay everything you can inside with CRC 6-56 or equivalent NOT WD-40. And don't be a baby about it really spray everything in the engine compartment especially the carbs.
