    Kawi 750 ZXI

    Hey forum Friends...

    I'm doing a favor for a friend and rebuilding the top end of a 1995 Kawaski 750 ZXi... His oil pump or lines have failed and burnt up a piston... Getting the jug bored out and installing a new top end kit. The owner wants to make sure this doesn't happen so he wants to convert to premix. After reading many of the posts it is recomended for this ski. I ordered a block off plate and wanted to know the following.

    -Oil to Ratio is it 32:1, 40:1 or 50:1??? I 'm thinking i'll start out with 32:1 and maybe see how it is performing and reduce the oil a bit to it doesn'r foul the plugs too bad.

    - The other question is that we are going to remove the oil tank when we do the top end mods. How do I handle the oil sensor? I'm guessing it's like mine Polaris that it will flash and possibly reduce power to avoid damage? What can I do to fool the computer?

    The oil pumps don't fail, but the lines crack and/or fall off. Replacing them with polyurethane hose solves the problem. A lot of people think you can't have an oil problem with pre-mix--WRONG! If a carb gets plugged and runs lean, that cylinder runs hot and has less lubrication.

    For normal use, 50:1 is about right. Run 25:1 for break-in.

    There is no computer on this 'Ski. The oil sensor is just a switch. Unplug it and tape over the connector and you're done.

    Good call! I've replaced all the lines. I rigged up the pump to make sure it was pumping etc.

    Does anyone have torque specs for when i get my top end rebuild kit back?

    Cylinder base: 25 ft-lbs, cylinder head, 22 ft-lbs.
