I don't know what happens when/if you change teh cluster, but if you plug BUDS into the CPU, it will tell you the exact hrs and what RPM ranges its been run at.

Having recently undergone a cluster change, I can assure you that my hours were saved by the ECU and still read as they did last winter prior to winterization. This was also a concern of the service writer, but it turned out to be a non-issue.

On the other hand, I had an issue under warranty that ended up being nothing more than a bad speedometer sending unit. That being said, before the true prob. was diagnosed, a new cluster was installed and with zero hours. I have two RXTs and although they have approx. the same run time on them one is about 15 -20 hours lower. This was on an '06 model, so I don't know if the same could happen on an '08 model.
