Should I install a primer bulb in my '99 Yamaha XL1200?

My XL1200 is a bear to start when cold. I've read a bit about installing a primer bulb, and that it should be installed on the return line. Is this right? Will this eliminate the need to use the choke? Will this make all the difference on a cold start?

A primer kit would make starting up a carburated 2 stroke a breeze. The kit will have instructions needed.

Ever ride up to New Smyrna? That's where you'll find me most of the time.
