    Unhappy Blown 1200 engine - 2001 Genesis i

    hi guys,
i have a 2001 genesis i 1200DI. i was told that there was a hole in the side of the block, so i proceeded to remove the engine. what i found was the number 3 piston was in about 4 different pieces.

I am considering ordering a remanufactured engine from PWCengine.

My question is: is there anything special I need to know before installing? I'm pretty sure i have to remove the flywheel cover before sending them my core. do i just re-install that cover and put on my exhaust, intake, starter etc. and that's it? she should be good to go?

    thanks, lisa

    Welcome to the Hulk Lisa

Your engine rebuilder should be able to tell you exactly what they want to receive, and what parts should NOT be on the engine.

    In general I would expect that the things you would remove from the old engine before shipping would include;

    - Flywheel front cover with oil pump, flywheel itself, stator assembly, flywheel housing, starter motor
    - Drive shaft PTO coupler

    - Entire air intake manifold assembly including reeds
    - Entire exhaust manifold assembly

    - Spark plugs
    - Ignition coils and wires
    - Fuel injectors

    - Engine bed plates

    - Oil hoses (be sure to cap these so they don't leak while you wait for the new engine)
    - All electrical cables and related bolts/nuts

Essentially what you are shipping is just the core engine itself.

While you are working on your Genesis, have a look at my signature links for some common maintenance and repair items for your Ficht fuel injected Genesis i
