    Ride Plate Insert Changing

I have been perplexed by how good my 1200 handles compared to the 1300. Last night I went to the garage and reinspected the rideplate area. One thing I noticed is that the rideplate was mounted aft almost a quarter inch when comparing to the 1200. After 2 hours of belt sanding and dremeling the transom (above the waterline) and plate it fits exactly the same as the 1200's plate.

I am really wondering if that was a contributor to some of my high speed handling issues. I had a fairly large fore to aft gap between the pump shoe and rideplate. I guess I will find out on the 9th of December.

A partial contributor to this condition was when I put the new inserts in I just bolted the plate tight for the 5200 to cure. In hindsight I would push it forward and and tighten it up while waiting for the 5200 to set-up.

Just some advice for anyone changing out ride plate inserts.

    Live and learn.

So there was a noticable gap difference between the plate/shoe on each ski?

Put that 1300 in your 2000 hull

    80 won't be a problem I think

Yes the 2000 has about .060" gap in the center the 1300 was over.200". They are even now.

I wonder if that has any effect on the buck? heightwise they are even at about .200" in the middle.

I have been tempted more than once to switch the engines. My current thoughts are to put a 1400cc engine in the silver ski

Yep been talkin it over with Lowell.

All I need is 3 new guillotines

Lowell to do his magic on my upper case half, cylinders and head, 3 slugs and an Advent. Everything else is either on the ski or in the garage. I won't need to canibalize anything off the blue ski for it.

Art needs to work the carbs over into Blackjack 48's

so 3000 to 3500 should do it.
