    dual 40 keihins ain't 40's

third set of dual 40mm keihins i've looked at.none of them have been 40's.they are all 38mm with the small tops.the last set i got were from an octane and the 40mm throttle blades won't fit but 38's do.

Which model(s) are these 38mm Keihins from?

Which model(s) had the genuine 40mm Keihin?

99-00 slh,and octane list carb size at 40mm.yet they use the same jet sizes as the 38mm carbs.

So you are saying some of the carburetors that the factory manual lists as 40mm Keihin are actually 38mm carbs - correct?

Does the online Polaris parts listing show the correct info?

1253202 is the Polaris part number for Keihin carb used on 1998-2000 SLH, 2002-2004 Octane

1999 Polaris service manual (page 3.1) says 38mm Keihin for 1999 SLH and SLTH (but the model summary near the front says 40mm, which may be an error)
1998 manual also says 38mm for SLH and SLTH, but 40mm for SLXH and SLTX
2000 manual says 38mm for SLH

Did the Octane actually use the same size carb for all three model years?

yep, only the dual carbs are jacked up.the triple 40's are 40's except the genesis.so converting a set of the triple 40's to a dual setup would be running bigger carbs.you octane guys listening??
