Polaris 700 motor - cylinder head question

    Working on a 2002 Freedom with a 700 motor.

Unfortunately, when I removed the cylinder heads, I didn't pay attention to how they were installed. There are two sets of water passages on each head (big holes and small holes). If I had to guess, I'd say that the small holes go on the exhaust side (underneath the water manifold) so that water is forced to travel to the intake side. Anybody know for sure?

Also, the retaining rings each have a "T" mark on them. Are these supposed to be installed in a specific position?

Small opening should be marked with a E and X for exhaust side.

I'm assuming the "T" means top.
