    Polaris SL 750 over heating?

Okey so i had took it out to the lake for the first time and ran into a couple of problem.I was riding for about 5 mins every thing was running fine i hit full throttle a couple times and then it started losing power, would still idle then had not much power and eventually didnt idle for long.so i shut it off right away and had somone pull me back to the dock. I took the seat of and felt the engine it was hot to the touch unscrewed the cap were garden hose will hook up and a little bit of water came out but not much. i Let it cool down and started it back up and it was running fine then heated up again and started to die.

    Im running premix
    3 outlet fuel pump
MFD was flashing for oil ( tank removed)
Sensor on cooling rail , wire is broken off, could be causing issue?

Before i took it out i had hooked it up at home to hose all cylinders were cold and every thing ran fine.
I removed the thermostat the other day and put it into hot water and it opened. But the rubber gasket on it was messed up and twisted a little. What do you guys think is cause it to run hot? thanks

Did you use a thermometer to see WHAT temp the thermostat opened at?

Check your screen inside the jet pump if it's clogged.

YEP, most of us do already.

The only thing you need to watch out for is if you are riding in pretty cold water. Say, 60* and less. Make sure you warm up the engine really well before going WOT. (this should be normal practice no matter what the water temp is)

That way you bring the cyls up to temp and prevent chances of a piston cold seizing.

Cold seizure is when the aluminum piston heats up and expands faster than the cast iron cylinder liner and seizes inside the bore.

okay thanks alot ill just remove it and see how it goes. And how does the water get pumped through, is there a pump for the cooling or what? Or does the jet pump pump the water through engine?

The jet pump is the only water pump in the system.
