96 WaveVenture 700 top speed? Other Qs

Hey guys, what is the top speed range for a 96 WVT700 ? Is it safe to pull a tube with this smaller engine?

Also, what mods can I do (with out heads) to gain top speed?

The top speed is about 45 mph. It is completely safe and capable of pulling a tube. I would not do anything to it except put a bone stock 1100 motor in it. If your not wanting to raise the compression, just leave it alone. The basics would be pipe, head, reeds, aftermarket air filters and different impeller.

this is a good ski to pull tubers on. I would not do any mods to this motor as the hull is designed for comfort and not speed. you won't see very much if any speed increase due to the huill design. My wife has a wv700 with 200+ hours and no problems. The one thing that gets most of these motors is the wire ties on the oil injection lines over time seem to allow the line to fall off and boom goes the piston. Best to re place all the wire ties on all locations on the oil line and at oil pump for safety. Tommy Jordan

thanks for the advice! I will inspect the lines for damage and also check the wire ties. The compression is good and I already replaced the plugs. I bought this for me and my wife to cruise on (I rode my uncles WVT1100 and loved the stability!)

another stupid question ....how do I know if this is the 760 or 700 engine ? It's a 96 and I don't think they made the 760 until 97 ?

What are other common issues or things that I should watch out for? Should I change the fuel filter, and where is it located?

I have a waveraider 700 service manual ... will that have the same engine/setup as my waveventure 700 ?

the raider manual will work for the engine ok. These motors are pretty bullet proof. Over time if you keep them free from water corrosion and use good oil 200-300 hours is common on them.
