max 70 mph on dash, alternative?

Rxp-x, comes from factory up to 70mph on gauge.(i know people do GPS)
Seems like there would be a way to bypass it,so it would read 75 or 80 or 81 mph. Is it locked or something in the programming or would it be something simple off the wheel in the back?

There is really no need to bother. I haven't heard of anyone bypassing it, but this could just be because no one bothers.. The stock speedo is incredibly innaccurate. If your x is stock it probably isn't doing 70 anyway. Maybe JUST if your lucky.
Get a gps for accurate numbers

ok, just wondering. I just put in 4 inch kana, impeller,r&d grate, wedge, filled holes and a viton seal. I never gps'd it stock, i think i have a faster unit, by racing other checkmate boats last year (thats way fun) I'll find out gps speed in couple weeks, weather not nice yet.

I know they aint accurate and I do run a GPS, but it still would be neat for the speedo to go past 70.

i just don't understand, why it can't and they didn't.
If the ski is govern'd, who cares if it goes to 100mph. Why stop the speedo??
Unless you unlock the speedo and you can go faster stock form or modded.
Anyone manipulate the wheel, like they doing on the 300x's. Or even take it off?

Yes, would be nice, say your ski says 80mph, but you gps it and your going 75mph. So atleast you know if your going 80, your going around 75mph.

I have noticed that my les cooke ecu allows my speedo to read 90 +. It is exactly 10 mph fast when I compare to my gps.

The RXPX's are not governed by the speedo. No speed will be gained by manipulating the speedo wheel.

So its just something in the ecu that could be unlocked/enabled to allow the speedo to read past 70.

From what i have read in the past i believe it has something to do with an agreement that PWC manufacturers had with the US coast guard... That a PWC will not go faster than 70mph.

I am running a Riva ecu. I wonder if the Candoo system will let you "unlock" the speedo.
