Question Ordered new rings and they don't fit

I ordered the RIC rings for the OEM part number on my 2004 XLT1200 and the rings I got were to wide to fit on the PRO x pistons. I verified the part number on the box to the OEM one and they match. I thought these were suposed to be a match to OEM pistons. The new rings are thicker so they do not go into the piston grove. Am I doing something wrong? Did I get the wrong part?

Ok, after looking at my OEM pistons the ring groves are not the same. The rings I recieved do fit the original pistons. Is it ok to install 1 original piston with 2 pro x and save the 1 pro x for future use? I am ordering a new set of rings to go with the pro x piston but if it isn't a big deal I will just install one of the original good OEM pistons.
