    wide rave valves

    mel miller does the wide rave valve on the 800 engine
    does anyone know about this
    and if so how does he do it

    He widens the slots to accomodate 951 RAVES. All custom shaping on the RAVES. It makes it hit harder out of the hole. How he does it? Probably with a machine...

    ok maybe i should have made it cleare
    do you know what cylinders he uses
    ppg says there is only one you can use as the other break through
    do you know the width of the rave valaves after he has finished or are they std 951 width

    does anyone have a picture of the modified rave valve
    i am looking to do this mod myself

    He uses stock 800 cylinders. This is the only cylinder that was race legal at the time. What is the custom part is the bore diameter. It would work better on my 89mm pistons versus the stock 82's.

    You had to use casting from one of the earily white motors. They changed the castings on later silver motors and made them to thin. I hope this helps. Give Mel a call I'm sure he can get you taken care of 562-803-5309

    New wider billet rave valves are available for the 951 cylinders.

    i went to the local jetski wrecker and measured up about 20 different cylinders
    there is no difference between the castings on them
    they are all 62mm wide
    i am starting to think its just a ploy to stop you doing this yourself

    Where are you measuring? I think the difference is in the water jacket area, on the newer silver cylinders, when opened up it penetrates the water jacket area.
