    Ref / syn setup with multi tooth gear

    HI,

    I already have 12 tooth ref gear on crankshaft. This is motec "2" type setup in advanced/sensor setup like MILTI TOOTH . How I need setup this multi tooth system on motec??

    I think this but after setup all, I not have sparks during crank. But when I just TEST 1-2-3 ignitions I can see sparks no problem.

    ADJUST / GENERAL / FIRING ORDER TABLE 1-1 2-3 3-2
    ADJUST GENERAL / ADD FIRE TDCS 1 - 0.0 2 - 240 3-480 ALL MORE 0
    ADJUS/ SENSOR SETUP / REF/SYNC setup ( up to down ) 2 - 12 - 50 - 305 ??? - 2 - 0 - 0.0 - 1 -1 - 0.0

    any advice from motec's guru??

    Hi Repsol

    I have begun prepare instructions for you.

    This is not as easy as what you might think

    The set up is straight forward but the CRiP figure is not easy to get right
    I have no idea what your CriP figure is going to be as you have gone and made a custom wheel.
    If you get this number wrong then the ign map numbers will not line up with the engine and you could easily damage the engine with detonation BANG

    To check the CriP (Crank Index Position) figure is correct you will need to put a timing light on the engine with it running

    You will need an acurate TDC markThis is not easy on a Seadoo

    When we did our first 4Tec engine we made up a degree wheel to fit at the back of the Prop.

    You may know a better way

    Get that organised then let me know and I will give you your next instruction

    Regards

    Pete

    Thanks Pete,

    we already calculated crip so i think

    REF sensor Edge Polarity -> 1 ( Rise) ;
    SYNC sensor Edge Polarity -> 0 ( Fall);
    then CRIP : 643°

    if
    REF sensor Edge Polarity -> 0 ( Fall) ;
    SYNC sensor Edge Polarity -> 0 ( Fall);
    then CRIP : 635

    true why we check this multi tooth system because "MOTEC SAY THE BEST THE 12 TOOTH MULTI "
    Now I have already, but of course not easy to setup. I will try this morning and let you result .
    Sparks or not sparks this is a questions.....)))

    thx

    Hi,

    today already start engine, with multi tooth gear. Problem was that a people programing ecu map at his home by 3.50 software, but when arrived to me, on my PC already lastest version 3.52 and need down grade and upgrade again ecu, and after was all fine. Sparks coming out, and can start easy engine. Not really understand this, but this problem was also with EVO 7 any months ago.

    So best if motec write new program soon.

    Hi
    Repsol
    Good news about the engine.
    Not sure what the problem that you had was but the latest software version 3.52 is extreemly stable and should be used by everyone.

    I am concerned about your Crip figure
    Have you checked on the engine with a timing light that it is correct

    Regards

    Pete

    hi,

    my base ( calculated ) CRIP 605 degrees. with this number was start very easy, more better than stock gear during last year.
    I us my turbo map now for start, but i will try Michael's map also. Problem what I can say, that my friend his home setup table for 12 teeth, but on ecu was already 3.52p . And when we sent to file ecu, on dig 2 ( or aux 2 ) port was different setup what we setup on 3.50....

    Again I am finding it a little hard to uderstand what you are saying

    I am going to keep worrying about the one thing that will damage your engine and that is an incorrect crip setting

    there is only one way to check that it is correct and that is with a true TDC mark on the engine and a timing light.

    THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT

    I dont care how good it starts, I dont care what was on AUX 2 or ign 2 (for now at least) I just want you to uderstand that you need to check this Crip figure.

    Everyone will be sad when the engine is broken and people are starting to point the finger at someone to blame
