Yamaha 1100 3-seater engineers must have been DRUNK

The engineers who designed the 1100 3-seater must have been drunk.
This ski is a nightmare to work on because of the small access hole inder the seat. A horrible design, especially since they had a larger hull to work with.
I bought a 1100, 2-seater parts-ski, for a low price and pulled the whole engine without removing anything other than the 4 motor mount screws.
Just try getting the engine out of that tiny hole in the 3-seater without taking most of the parts off the engine first. The entire front of the ski and the tank have to be moved just to get access to the stator. What a pain-in-the-butt.
Anyone with lots of 3-seater experience have any tips for me on how to modify the access or get the engine out without taking off the carbs, exhaust, etc. first? Maybe a mod to cut out some of the access hole?

Did you take off the pipe and carbs?

Not on the two seater. It was not necessary.

I have alway had to take those thing off. You are the master if you fished that motor out of there. At least take the pipe off and it should be easyer. When they are made at the factor,I think they are two parts. The upper hull haft and the lower hull haft. It all ready has the motor in the lower haft when they gule them together. That is why it is hard to get into some of the smaller units. Good luck.
