Just my luck part.......? I lost count!!!!!!

This pictures are from my 1200XLT. It was at the mechanic having the carbs rebuilt and taking the oil pump out to mix the oil directly with the fuel...When the guy took the head off to put the stinger pipe back in while I waited for it to be done to finally take it home this is what the piston looked like The cylinder wall is damaged by the piston ring being twisted and rubbed up and down who knows for how long. Funny thing is that I would have sworn that the ski had been running good Well, the bill keeps adding on Sorry for the crappy pics, cel phone quality.

How in the hay did that happen, doesn`t look like a detonation burn. Looks like the top of the piston to the ring land is broken off ...PR...

I always use 87 octane on that ski and the guy said that was a bad idea. It seemed to be melted but you cant see it well in the pics. There is melted steel at the bottom of the exhaust valve.

He's gonna send the cylinder to a company somewhere to have it rebuilt. Then install a new piston and rings. The cylinder costs about $450 brand new....rebuilt is about $250, piston is about $120 + labor and crap.

    Man good luck with that!...PR...

Geo there is a place called dc cycles off of 595 he has hones and bored a couple of cylinders for me his name is darren. Find his # and call him he doesnt rip you and he can get you pistons also. Also what kind of oil are you using in that ski. I would stick with yama lube. email me if you have any questions. If you call tell him you are a friend of charlies and Adams.
