    beating a dead horse

i know this has been beaten to death but i wanted to ask you guys because i consider you polaris guys to be much more mechanically inclined than any of the other parts of the forum since everything we do, we do on our own

so how do you guys feel about removing the F/A's

    worthwhile?
    rejet?
maybe just fatten up the high speed and low speed screws

    or just leave em alone

im talking about my 95 seafood spx 657 since it's the only one currently running as im waiting on pistons for the 780

Dude, you HAVE to have F/A's installed for legality purposes.

It's a flame arrestor, not a air filter for a reason.

Should you ever have a backfire with the FA's missing, you can have an explosion under your arse.

Don't let the Coast gaurd catch you without them......

But performance FA's are good for better air flow.

Polaris stock flame arrestors are not very flow restrictive, other than on the very early Fuji engines.

Some aftermarket flame arrestors are slighty less restrictive and can provide modest performance gains on a stock engine.

You can build a very high performance engine with flame arrestors in place.

    legal schmegal

i come from the old school of if you put something in front of your intake you slow down i don't remember the exact numbers but there was an air straightener on a certain model bike (honeycomb shaped piece ) the was supposed to straighten out the airflow someone did some testing on it and it would flow almost i think 29% more air by removing it

fa looks like some crazy wire mesh some no good politician came up with to make the american public safer (kinda like the whole speed limiter thing) but like i said this is why i come to you guys thanks for the advice

A PWC engine compartment is not ventilated. Any fuel fumes that accumulate inside the hull present a fire or explosion risk. The flame arrestor is there for a good reason.

so the question would be is the performance gains worth putting some type of bilge ventilation fan on it

btw i have already decided not to do it now we're just throwing around hypotheticals
