    GPR stop speed only 54mph

I GPSed my GP1200r yesterday and best number I got was 54 mph with a full tank of fuel. Any ideas where my speed is going. Watercraft is stock expect for D-plate and chip. I just want the 62 MPH these are supposed to be capable of.

Pretty smooth water. Forgot to get the RPMs. Stock intake grate and ride plate. 7 hours on new top end. Compression just under 115 on all three.

I'm going out today again so I'll get an RPM reading. On the positive side my speedo is spot on. It was only 1 MPH off from the GPS at times most of the time it was synced with the GPS.

Lots of variables to top speed but an obvious question on an 100r would be - Have the carbs ever been rebuilt?

I did. I ran the unit on the trailer and reved it up and saw the valve linkages turning.

from you previous posts about your compression, that makes a huge difference, make sure you got wave eater clips on the pv, i had 120 in the number 1 an 2 clys. 118 in 3. run 63 on gps with 2 bars of gas. run a CC race and dropped the pv in the number 3 cly. sounds to me like you are due for rings. and throw a set of clips on if you havent done it yet, better be safe than sorry. just my .02.

Does this ski have the computer controlled power valves ? if so you can do a check by unpluging the the servo and manually opening the valves to full open...ski will launch like a turtle but when it hits it should pull pretty hard...this is a simple test meant only to verify p.v. opening...look at your pump shoe and make sure its not pulling out......hope this helps

So just turn the shafts by hand to open the valves?
