anyway got it home got under, and the pump is fukced, up top its all worn and scored, impeller is chewed up. gonna take it apart today and get more info.

any ideas? did my impeller back off possibly?
loose impeller? did you torque it to spec when assemble, if not, there is a big chance that's what it is.

if it's a loose impeller, you'll need to check your engine crankshaft end float before putting it back into the water because a loose impeller can cause the same thing as a pump failure wich is pushing the shaft toward the engine. First disassemble the pump and check if the impeller is tight. good luck

if the impeller was loose do what brisyl said and check the pump bearings for play as well before reassembling. if the housing is torn up i would look into getting it replace because its just going to lead to cavitation and poor perofrmance down the line

lets same upon disassembly the impeller is loose, then what.?
You need to remove your pump first and check the impeller, it useless to speculate more, you need to start from the beginning remove the impeller and check how much torque it need to remove it,even if it came loose when running doesn't mean you'll be able to remove it by hand, it can be a little bit tight.

If your impeller got loose then there's a big posibility that your shaft's thread is toast.

I toasted my engine with the same mistake.

My mistake was the result of too many wild turkeys while I was rushing to get it going for the next day............

I HOPE your crank is ok

1stly check for movement of the crank

    Waz

the pump damage WILL be the least you need to worry about right now...............if the crank got shoved.....
