96 sl 900 low speed bog

Hi every one im a newbie to watercrafts i just purchased a 1996 sl 900. it has a low end bog and hard to start. mid throttle and on it runs great. where should i start? i cleaned the carbs and found pilot jets were clogged on two cylinders. compression was 140 on all three holes, fresh gas,no gray fuel lines. gas light blinks low fuel even when tank is full. Have not adjusted mixture screws yet. I searched the forum and couldn't find any thing specific to the 900. Any help would be great, THANKS

Fuel float no longer floats and needs to be replaced. That may be putting the ski into limp mode.

Are you refering to the fuel gauge problem or the low end bog? If it was in limp mode for that would it still clear up and run 60 mph once i get past the bog?

Most likely not. Check to see that the accelerator pump is squirting fuel into the carbs when you squeeze the throttle. Factory spec is 5/8 turn open on the low speed screw.

2 unrelated problems here. Fuel float is definitely gone, you will need to replace it (about 30 bucks). Low fuel doesn't affect limp mode, which is activated via overheat condition. Definitely sounds like a low speed screw setting for the bog, we seem to be seeing a few of these lately......
