STXR 'notch' in steering nozzle?
Anyone know why there is a notch or irregular/non-semetrical end to the steering nozzle? If you look at it, the top lip is longer than the sides and bottom as the end was trimmed off that way for a purpose I'm guessing...(?)

I ground mine off on my Ultra just out of curiosity and it made no noticeable difference good or bad.

....hey thanks guys! I know it was kind of a 'trivia' question but thought I'd ask b/c I'm tweaking some protec nozzles on my other yamaha ski's to determine any performance gains.... . I have to say though, in really looking at all the STXR designs, aftermarket companies have copied what Kawi has done and have offered it up to Yamaha GP/XLT owners. Couple examples I found are:
Riva/Protec Stinger: same idea as STXR exhaust design
Riva freeflow: Same as STXR
Riva/Protec et al extended sterring nozzle: Similar to STXR/longer than stock Yami v. stock STXR.
STXR Intake grate better than Stock yami grate.....etc.
Just another point of trivia if you will....

I put the exit and steering nozzle of a 15F and put that on the STXR. I didn't see any gains in low, mid or top end. I also didn't find any loss either, but i did find the boat is a lot easier to steer and feels a lot better.
