    Anyone Know how long the bolts are for a Thru Hull Exhaust Tip?

    Hey,

    I have a Piranha exhaust tip that I'm going to install. How long do the bolts have to be to go through the hull? Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the bolt is an M6.

    I would get at least 2" long bolts it will help you to be able to grab it to put the nut on it

    The bolts have a 1 1/4" worth of threads on the RIVA rear exhaust thru hull that I just measured.

    I think the bolts I used were 1/4-20 x 1 1/4" socket head cap screws.

    So it seems they are 1 1/4" long ...thanks guys! Just wondering what you mean by 1/4-20 ..? 1/4" bolt with a 20 pitch or something?

    .250" diameter 20 threads per inch.

    Yeah, that's what I meant! Thanks, so I figure 1.5" M6 will work for my Piranha tip.

    That's a good idea, but I don't have nuts. There is an exhaust tip, and an exhaust donut flange which plates up against the inside of the hull. ...Unless I'm supposed to put on the flange, tighten it down and then put nuts on top of the flange...?

    That one. On mine I used longer bolts because I did the install alone and it was easier to line up then try to feel around for the smaller size...I have heard or read of people putting lock nuts behind the flange as to keep the bolts from backing out. I'd also use some good lock tight. If you can grab a buddy to help hold the back side. This would have made things a lot easier on me.
