Using diesel to increase octane numbers.

Just curious has any one here have done this safely and in what ratio.
I know the boys who races super Kart does it to advance the timing.
When the official found out it was banned mid season.
Diesel is the "tainted" version of "JET A1" and has the properties of increasing the
"flash point" detonation. and a much higher specific energy/Kg
actually it S.E is higher than Dynamite.

I don't see how this would make sence? Diesel has an octane rating of about 40 so if you mix it with gas that will lower the octane rating making it detonate sooner with less timing and boost. Diesel does produce more btu's which makes more power but if you are going to be detonating then it doesn't make sense to mix it with gasoline.

I just noticed this is in the two stroke section so boost and timing doesn't really apply but the concept of detonation will still apply.

    In theory it would work.

Diesel does not have a octane rating, its has a cetane number. Not the same animal.

What ASTM method is used to verify Cetane #?

The way I look at it is, if it actually worked with no issues, alot of people would be doing it in all aspects of gas engines.
