    R&D Rideplate set-up for Off-shore riding???

I have an R&D Rideplate that's great on smooth water, but as soon as I hit some chop, it starts porpoising. Trimming the nose full down helps some, but doesn't eliminate it. I haven't ridden it in the open ocean with this rideplate yet, but if it porpoises like it does on mild/medium chop, it's going to be quite a ride out on big ocean. Is anyone running the R&D off shore, and if so, how do you have it shimmed? I have it with stock spacers and no shims. Or would I be better off putting the stock one back on for the ocean?
    Thanks,
    Dave

This makes no sense. The ski will obviously propoise in rough because of the waves. In the flat where you have to be worried about propoising.

Ok, I'll break it down for you. Riding...on a smooth bay. Hit a wake from another boat. Front bounces up and down like a 1977 Ford Econoline van with bad shocks for a bit, then calms back down. NO, IT'S NOT NORMAL. This isn't my first ride on the ski, just the first ride in these conditions with this rideplate in this configuration.

    It is the rider's fault

Ok, my smart-ass remarks weren't necessary, but I've done plenty of Ocean riding...more so than smooth lake riding, so I know what it feels like riding in the ocean. When I had the stock ride plate on, it bounced a LOT LESS in the rough. I picked up a lot top speed on smooth water with this plate, but don't know if it was worth it with the sacrificed rough water handling. I'm in an off-shore race this weekend, and trying to figure out if I can get it shimmed, or if I should just put the stock one back on for the race and mess with it when I have time for testing.

I was thinking, I should have offered to let you take her for a spin Saturday. Did you happen to see the bounce any of the times I went by?

Seriously, I noticed you were flying but I couldn't see (or I didn't notice) anything out of the ordinary.

Try putting 3 washers in the back... that's what we did and it cost 2 mph, but handled a lot better. Also, a dual prop will help keep teh ski planted.
