The 260x comes with 4deg timing advance from the factory so you would "probably" be okay with 4deg advance over stock 250x timing (.66 mm). I would not do the full 6deg on those piston. Just be careful...

PS: I've never tried it - I own a 250x. Also, just so everyone understands, I'm talking about 4deg over 250x timing NOT over 260x timing.

bit hard to work out exactly what ski you have? if its a 250 with 260 pistons 6deg is fine if its a 260 i wouldnt go much over 3deg. ive been running 3deg with a pulley kit no problems on the 260 pistons now when i ran 6-10deg that was a different story

i broke a piston but it was not from detonation it cracked so i put the 260 ones and now i was thinking since the 260 have 4 degree maybe 6 wouldnt be to mutch that is my question.also i only put 98ron fuel.thanks

260's run 6deg all day. I would definately do the intercooler re-plumb though.

This is on Aussie 98 non ethanol fuel.

+1 I run 9.5 and +6 timing .................Good fuel is the Key to engine survival
( but I understand the potential for failure )

even my 250 pistons ran +6 and 1-1 for 85 hrs

My 9.5 on 1-1 pulley is fun for hole shot . ........... it is now got pulley kit removed as ski is for sale............and returned to STOCK excluding pistons

260piston +6 is fine just like that slippery fella above said.......on GOOD fuel

I was thinking putting that combo but i was afrayed of running the 9.5.1 without race fuel

A few people had piston problems with the 250's and it got blamed on timing. Even skip was apprehensive about timing mod. It turned out to be a piston weakness, not deto. The 260 pistons are way better than the 250 0nes, I often reccommend upgrading for pure reliability reasons when rebuilding 250s. I have found that with 250/260's you can advance until it dosen't make any more power without fooking anything.

Oh, and the results? You will love it.

However, I'm not going there with the 300 until I have a knock box bolted to the engine............
