    2nd PTO piston toasted

    hehe burned it up

got to measuring the jugs and pistons and and the pto was was already bored .5mm over the piston in it was the same size all the the other jugs wouldn't even accept the piston (indicating this had been a problem before)

so its raining here in central texas i figured hey today is as good as any day maybe the ramp will be empty

ran it on the trailer a bit jugs were cool heads were cool plugs looked good

it wanted to bog so i richened the lows up 3/4 (1/4 at a time) of a turn which solved the low end bog i was wary i had to open it up so much though

took it out and putted around a bit making 3 half throttle runs for about 15 seconds 20-23 mph

did one pass full throttle and as i was about to kill it it died on its own FACK

so yeah 94$ PTO piston down the drain

pics cause i know you want em

    mag

    center

    PTO

    adjustments starting:
high speed (little brass screw facing the front of the boat right?)
    mag 1 1/8
    cen 7/8
    pto 1 1/4

low speed (black adjustment "T" screw correct?)
    1 3/8

They look really lean. Mag not as much, but the center and PTO need more fuel.

    Mag very lean

    CEN extremely lean

    PTO extremely lean

Did you address the fuel system upgrades?

Going to want to do both a crank index and leak down tests. It seems like there's a problem with that PTO cyl.

It doesn't take long to destroy a piston due to lean running as you've noticed. That's why you need to make sure evertyhing is all in order BEFORE you go running WOT.

Lack of fuel = heat And a long run at WOT will create alot of it.

What octane of fuel were you running BTW?

    crank index perfect
    fuel system perfectly fine

i was just out side i think i found the problem
#1 i forgot to add for the ocean pro F/A's
#2 pto side crank seal is shot im guessing the diveshaft seems to be wobbling i didn't even notice it fack that would definitely cause it right how could i test that

#1 OP FA's wouldn't cause an issue on a 780. The SLX came stock with OP vortex, and the regular 780 had a wide open element that flows just about as much air as the OP.

#2 crank seal will definately cause you to run lean FAST. Leak down test will tell you if it's bad.

so what kind of leak should be suspected and how do you guys "seal up" the motor just make some blank intake and exhaust gaskets and pull vaccuum through the sparkplug hole?
