    Will a jet pump off a 1996 sl780 fit my 1993 sl750?

yes if you get the complete pump ,bolts , water tube and you'll need to lengthen your steering cable and trim rod

Sl 780 didn't have the long pump Lugs. Yes, it will fit.

However, you'll need to re-align the pump after you install the new one.

The good news is, you'll get better performance. The bad news is, you'll need to get an impeller for a 750 for the newer 148mm pump.

How do you re-align the pump? Do I need a special tool?

Also it comes with the impeller will I be able to use it?

Even if the impeller is the correct pitch (part number), you should check the bearings for slop or any signs of binding or non-smooth rotation.

If there is any doubt about the condition of the bearings or seals in the stator, you should take it apart and install fresh parts. To remove impeller you need an impeller removal tool ($20 or less online).

To align the engine to jet pump you will need an alignment tool. This is a precision steel shaft.

Upon closer inspection, the 1996 SL 780 uses the 079 impeller which is also used on the 94 and 95 SL 750.

So as long as the pump you install still has the OEM 4 blade impeller ending with 079 part number, it'll work fine on your 750.

As for the pump re-alignment, yes you need a special tool. Like K447 mentioned, read up in the links he's provided about it.

Same thing - 148mm impeller diameter in a modular construction (the sections can be separated) jet pump.

The 1992-1993 pumps used the smaller 146mm impeller in a one piece jet pump.

You can find more info in my signature links. Look for the Jet Pump section

Ok I want to make sure my jet pump has not been changed to the newer 148mm style already, is there a way to tell by looking at when it is still on the ski?
