best FZR setup?
I was wondering if you all could help in giving a few suggestions etc.. I have just bought an FZR, and I am looking to set it up for racing or either as a training boat till I get my official race boat sorted.. I have just moved to fzr after years of racing on seadoo rxp's so I am not sure where to start with the mod's.. Any sugestions would be highly apprecaited..
p.s. I am looking to run at least 76+ as a start.

Basic stuff like manifold upgrade, air intake, exhaust and then a reflash and a low/mid boost wheel will have you doing 76 no problem.

I recently set up a SHO with an R1/C3/Bov with everything else stock and it ran 75 GPS, FZR is good for 2 more MPHs. Best bang for about $1200.00.
Even the stock prop was dead on at 8300!

What kind of racing? An intake grate (R&D, IMO) no matter what, and there are a few ride plates out there...which one depends on the type of racing. I've only ever tried the R&D and stock plates. The R&D is awesome on smooth water or light chop...gained a couple MPH, but I didn't like it when the chop got a little rougher...the stock plate was better in the rough. A lot of people say that the Worx plate is the way to go for rough water or for carving curves, but knocks a few MPH off the top. IMO, unless the racing you are doing is drag racing, there's not much of a point to a high top speed because you'll never reach it in most racing. Get it to hook first, then work on speed. I just figured this out when I did a 55 mile offshore race and the fastest I got it up to was 54.8 MPH on a ski that can do 73+ on smooth water. The only time you'll have glass is when you're racing yourself.
