Question 1995 Polaris 750sl Oil Pump removal - what to remove after pump?

I have purchased a blocker kit (plastic plug) to remove the oil pump from a 1995 Polaris 750SL (actually will end up doing 3 skis). What I need to know is should I remove the cylindrical part and two washers shown below or should they stay and fasten the plastic plug kit over them? Also, is there anything else I should remove or keep?

    Any help is much appreciated.

Did you remove the drive gear?

Plastic plug block off? Not a flat metal plate with gasket?

    Why remove the oiling system?

I removed the pump because of so much controversy on this site about remove/not remove. Thought since I am diving into fixing these skis (I have 3 1995 Polaris 750SL's to get running) I should take the safe approach. Also John Zigler (sp?) recommended it as a safe way to go.

I purchased plastic plug kits from JZ. The plastic plug kit fits nicely but upon further inspection I found the cylindrical parts shown in above image. It would seem that the plug kit would hold these parts in place snug but I am asking for first hand advice. Also, the pump has a yoke end that seems to make to a yoke shaft inside the crankcase ... I don't see what gears I am to remove? Do you have Polaris experience with this?

That yoke end inside the motor is the end of the drive gear shaft. I think it should just pull out with a little rotation and wiggling.

A little searching should find photos of the Fuji oil pump drive gears.

Yup that's like the one that was on my 780, I took all those pieces out, put some gasket sealer on the blockoff plate and covered the hole. I've got a tank of 32:1 premix for break in, and I've hit the point I need to run the rest of what I have and start with 40 to 1

Thanks for all the help ... I think I've got it from here if I can cram my fat body and arms to get the parts out

I just removed the oil line from the tank and plugged it several years ago because it was leaking the oil from the tank. Is there a reason to remove the gears and cap it?

The gear is a moving part. Any moving parts can be a potential failure.

Remove the gear, and you remove any chance for that part ever failing.
