Just bought a new 2009 FZS and have a problem

My tachometer stopped working properly.. now when I let off the gas it goes to zero and it is very slow to keep up with my engine revs I have about 16 hours on the ski and bought it three weeks ago. Any ideas?

Just bought, take it back to the dealer. I wouldn't even mess with it. Use that warranty.

Sounds like a faulty connection or corrosion, but it might be a bad gauge or wiring harness. If the gauge (they'll replace entire dual analog meter unit) is bad, it'll be a long wait on the part and you'll be without your FZS.

Contact the dealer before taking it in and see if their willing to schedule a time you can bring it in for diagnosis while you wait, with the understanding that the ski leaves with you while the part is on order. They'll check voltage at the DAMU coupler and you should have your answer in a few minutes. Be sure to take one of your remotes with you when you go to dealer.

I'm a Yamaha tech and its probably either a bad connection at your meter connectors, and or one of the pins in the connector is loose has corrosion,or the meter its self is bad.I would take it to a dealer and pay the $100 or so diagnosis fee

Why should he be paying anything on a ski with 16 hours?
