    Head Gasket Leaking

Finished a top-end rebuild due to oil line failure. Found a good replacement cylinder, new OEM piston and all new OEM gaskets, including cylinder head gasket. All head bolts torqued in sequence to specs.
But when running on hose, thehead gasket is leaking carb side at all 3 cylinders.

    What could cause this?

Sure its the head gasket? Or base gaskets? I know for sure if you put the base gaskets on backwards it will leak water.

The head gasket goes on a certain way also....but I'm not sure if it will leak if installed wrong...never done it.

Definitely the head gasket. Could I have put this on the wrong way?

What year ski? I know on the GPR the cylinders are not exactly round. The head gasket is shaped to fit them. Just pull the head off and check it to see where its leaking.

    Ooops.... It's a 99 xl1200 with the 66v power valve.

It's leaking at all 3 cyls at the same spot on each one.... which has me befuddled....

Has to be a gasket if its leaking on all 3. The head is also a 2 piece head, has a cover so there is a gasket there too.

I'll pull the head tomorrow... I thought for sure that the head gasket would only go on one way. If that's the case, what's the chance of my head being warped?

I would definately put the head down on a sign plate or put a nice straightedge to it. If all else fails just clean everything good and put it back together with a little Yamabond on each side of the gasket.
