    GIO conclusions

I know there have been many posts about the GIO problems in the FZRs, but being too lazy to search out all of them, what is the bottom-line consensus on why it happens and what is the the fix?

Gas in oil. Makes the oil thin which is not good.

Haha! Ok, thanks. I have never heard it in an acronym before. And havent really seen a lot of threads on it. But then again, i wasnt really looking. How big of a problem is this in the FZ and FX SHO engines?

Idk. I never had it and I hardly see any forum members posting threads about GIO. So I don't think it's that big a problem but it's something you should look out for.

Even on a bone stock machine? I am pretty meticulous when it comes to maintenance on anything so i will be watching for it. How exactly do you spot it early? I imagine the oil starts to get thin, right?

Don't even worry about it on a stock or slightly modded ski. GIO usually only happens on a ski with an aftermarket IC and high boost.
