Anyone in Katy / West Houston?

Where do you guys like to ride? Lake Somerville?
Once I get the FX140 up and running I'm going to need to take it on a "shake down" ride.

Sommerville is nice, but a tad windy and choppy. Conroe is very choppy as well. Lake Houston is okay. We usually ride down in the Clear Lake area

I did it once years ago, in 98 I think. Got to be careful on the back side of the island, lots of oyster beds. I did it when I belonged to BAPWA and we had some guy that knew the bay lead us.

I didn't even think of that, I just figured I'd be able to blast through the bays.
You guys ever ride in the surf? My in-law's beach house is on the gulf side on the west end of the island. I was thinking I might go to one end or the other, drop the ski in and ride around so everyone can take turns riding

Surf riding is a blast. Its the launching that is a pain. If you have a place you can launch that is protected then ride to the beach house that sounds good, but unless you have people to help, launching in the surf is no fun.

yeah, I've ridden in surf before. My sister got married in St. Marten, and my bro-in-law and I rode around half the island. It was 6' - 8' swells that day, took us over an hour of constantly jumping the waves. I was TIRED when we got done, and my knee still aches to this day.

My plan was to drop it at a boat slip bay side, close to one end of the island or the other, then ride it around to the house.
