    RXP rpm question

Hi Guys, I purchased a 08 RXP late last fall,I rode tested it and It ran 70 mph (not GPS) @ 8000 rpm. Over the winter i installed 4'' fizzle air and a R&D grate. The rpm is now down to 7900, I was expecting 8150. The oil level is fine and the plugs are new,new gas too. Is this normal, did the grate slow me down ? Also will I be able to turn a 14/19 prop. Speed with gps is 66.5 What do i do next?

It is probably a bit warmer now than when u ran last or your elevation has changed? U can have your prop tweaked a bit to raise rpms. Before u do this go over the ski and make sure you have no leaks of any kind. Also check your wear ring out.

Thanks for the reply, the wear ring did cross my mind. But wouldn't my rpms be higher. I don't seem to have any gain with the 4" air.

Honestly that is impossible. The grate will pull down the RPM's but just a little (more water is being processed).

The R&D grate is slower than stock but still way worth it. To try it out (keep things simple) just throw the stocker back on and run it.

Also make sure the trim is all ok.

Unfortunitly I didn't ride this ski enough before I put in the 4" air & grate. I seem to have a strong mid range when dragging with my friends new 09 X, so maybe thats the improvement I got with the 4'' air. I did notice I have some cavitation when whipping this machine around. So I guess I'll putting in a new wear ring next.
