    Engine Swap between 1200R and 800R?

    I found these skis at a local Yamaha dealer the other day. I'm not sure if the $3,499 gets me both skis or not (still waiting to hear back), but if it does I might just buy these.

    I have a 1200R that I bought used several years and the hull has seen better days (because of the previous owner). I was thinking of buying the two 800R's and gutting one of them. Then putting the 1200 motor in the empty hull. And would the other 800R even be worth riding, or is it unbearably slow?

    I'm just not sure how much of a project I would be getting myself into. I don't mind wrenching at all, but if I have to do something as extensive as relocating motor mounts, I'm out. lol. What do you guys think? I'm assuming pretty much everything is different between the two skis. I know I would have swap most of the electronics, but would the MFD be compatible?

    You do have to relocate motor mounts by cutting into the hulls of both. Not only are the mounts in different locations there are of different sizes!

    Ugh! That's what I was afraid of... I don't think I want to get that involved. Oh well. Thanks for the quick response though.

    Anyone else have any input as far as whether or not those two skis are worth the money?

    I've never rode an 800R before, but I believe I recall reading that they are slow as piss. True? False?
